SCENIC SPOTS AND HISTORIC SITES OF ZHAILIAOXI
Scenic Spots and Historic Sites of Zhailiaoxi, located in the suburban area of Ruian City, Zhejiang Province, covers the area of 178.4 square kilometers, including nine scenic spots such as Jiuzhutan(Nine-pearl Pool), Huayan(Flowery Rocks), Yunu Valley(Maiden Valley) and Jimenxi Brook( Sacrificial Gate Brook). They are famous for clear water, elegant valleys, flying waterfalls, strange and magic rocks, dense forest and quiet caves. Ancient Buddhist and Taoist temples, ancient villages and revolutionary sites are among the forest, which make it a natural garden-style scenic spot integrating beautiful mountains with rivers. Of all the scenic spots, Zhailiao Xiuxi(Zhailiao Elegant Brook), Huayan Diecui(Layered Flowery Rocks), Jimen Faqu(Rafting on Sacrificial Gate Brook) and Jiuzhu Ningbi(Nine-pearl Pool) are named ‘Four Fairylands of Zhailiaoxi’.
There are more than two hundred natural and humanistic scenic spots. Of them, Jiuzhutan scenic spot (Nine-pearl Pool) is located between the green mountains and valleys. Its nine clear pools link to each other like nine linked pearls, flying down from the mountains like waterfall, which are very splendid in the valley. Huayan scenic spot, a national forest park, is rich in plants and animals. Its percentage of forest cover is over 90%. Dongyuan Moveable Printing is the only wooden moveable printing that was handed down and is still being used in China. It is regarded as the living fossil of the printing technology in the world.
